Project Accountant

A fast growing, Los Angeles based homebuilder of select new-home communities in Southern California is seeking a Project Accountant for its Costa Mesa office

The Project Accountant will maintain project level accounting records and reporting, coordinate draw package submittals, review and maintain project budgets, and assist with other administrative functions. Applicants should be well organized, personable, customer-focused, and embrace working in a high-paced environment with a dynamic team.

Responsibilities include:

Process, scan, and code invoices for payment.
Oversee vendor set-up, including insurance and W-9 verification. Maintain accurate vendor files and information in Sage 100.
Overseeing invoice approval process by distributing to team members for review and approval.
Create and submit monthly draw packages to banks and investors.
Track subcontractor payments, lien waivers, and account balances.
Correspond and coordinate with vendors to resolve issues and concerns regarding invoices and payments.
Manage the project job cost budgets, including the publication of job cost reports, analysis of budgets to actuals, and inputting approved budget revisions into Sage 100.
Assist with account reconciliations, and month end close (including adjusting journal entries, closing entries, and cost recognition).
Assist with the review, preparation, and analysis of project level financial statements and operational reports.
Assist with various clerical and administrative tasks as needed.
Ad hoc reporting and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in accounting or accounts payable, or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related subject.
Experience in homebuilding, real estate development, or construction.
Ability to communicate with subcontractors and consultants in a professional manner.
Pride in quality workmanship, strong attention to detail and results oriented.
College education preferred.
Sage 100, or comparable accounting software experience.
