Lead Technical Designer - Intimates/Sleepwear

Our client, a growing apparel brand, is seeking a Lead Technical Designer - Intimates/Sleepwear to join their team in NYC!

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the technical design process for Junior Intimates and Sleepwear, ensuring products meet high standards of quality and fit.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive grading systems for a variety of sizes, including junior and plus sizes, within the Intimates category.
  • Evaluate and measure samples, actively engaging in fitting sessions to provide thorough feedback on size, fit, and pattern adjustments.
  • Maintain effective communication with international manufacturers to guarantee that all production aligns with design specifications and timelines.
  • Offer expert guidance on fit, materials, and trims to ensure that the final products adhere to design intentions and budget constraints.
  • Partner with Private Label teams to ensure that the fit and functionality of products meet brand expectations.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Lead Technical Designer, particularly within the Junior/Women’s Intimates and Sleepwear sectors.
  • Proficient in bra construction techniques, including the development of pads, molding, and grading for underwear and sleepwear.
  • Strong experience in creating and applying grading standards for intimate apparel, spanning junior and plus-size ranges.
  • Prior experience working with discount retailers like TJX, Ross, and Burlington.
  • Educational background in Apparel or Intimates Technical Design; a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related discipline is preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of garment construction, pattern drafting, textile properties, and the manufacturing process.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, with additional experience in PLM systems considered an asset.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a proactive approach and a dedication to ongoing learning and improvement; a strong team collaborator.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across various teams and departments.
  • Proven success in managing projects in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment while upholding high-quality standards.

$100k-$120k commensurate of experience

On Site Full Time, 9:00am – 5:00pm or 10:00am – 6:00pm
