Senior Sourcing Specialist

Our client, a wholesale apparel company, is seeking a Senior Sourcing Specialist to join their team in NYC! The ideal candidate will hold extensive experience in fabric sourcing, advanced negotiation capabilities, and a proven track record of managing relationships with global suppliers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the identification and sourcing of high-quality fabrics from global suppliers, establishing and nurturing strong relationships with fabric suppliers, mills, and manufacturers worldwide.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research to stay informed on fabric trends, innovations, and competitive pricing strategies.
  • Evaluate and select vendors based on factors such as quality, reliability, cost, and production capacity, ensuring alignment with company standards.
  • Negotiate complex contracts, pricing, and delivery terms with suppliers to secure the best possible outcomes for the company, including decisions on pricing, margins, quantities, factory selection, and negotiations.
  • Monitor supplier performance closely, addressing any issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance in a timely manner.
  • Oversee fabric inventory management, ensuring an adequate supply for production needs while minimizing excess stock and costs.
  • Collaborate closely with the production team to accurately forecast fabric requirements based on upcoming orders and seasonal demands.
  • Maintain detailed records of fabric orders, deliveries, and inventory levels, ensuring accuracy and transparency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Textile Science, Fashion Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4-7 years of experience in fabric sourcing, with a focus on the apparel industry.
  • Deep knowledge of global fabric markets, trends, and sourcing strategies.
  • Exceptional negotiation and vendor management skills, with a proven ability to secure favorable terms in complex negotiations.
  • Proficiency in sourcing and inventory management software.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships across teams and with external partners.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel both domestically and internationally as needed.


$100k-$150k commensurate of experience
