Senior Estimator

A construction company based in Las Vegas is seeking a Senior Estimator to join its team.

Since inception the Company has completed several million square feet of community, commercial and industrial space. Considered one of the premiere commercial contractors in the West, the Company offers its clients full design build services. Ongoing areas of expertise include the following: Concrete Tilt-Up, Conventional Stick Frame, Tenant Improvements, Metal Stud Framing, Drywall & Paint, Pre-Engineered Structures, Maintenance/Repairs and Butler. The management teams offer over 100 years of combined experience in the building industry

Position:
Senior Estimator is an upper management position and includes the responsibility to mentor less experienced staff members.  Your input is valued by the Executive Committee and encouraged.

Responsibilities:

• Managing day-to-day operations for the projects being estimated.  
• Manage the bid process and subcontractor database.  
• Initiate the Job Turnover meetings to Construction Operations.  Includes RFI’s and maintaining RFI Logs through the bid process.  
• Work with the Company Administrator for issuance and execution of client contracts.  Includes support of Construction Operations Staff to fill any “holes” in projects turned over.
• Perform a detailed analysis of bid packages and create RFIs to the Design Team to gather needed information to compile a complete estimate.
• Initiate “Invitations to Bid” and write instructions to bidders utilizing Procore to manage the process.
• Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers during the bid process to confirm they will be bidding with Company and by the due date.
• Object is to obtain multiple bids per trade.
• Scrub qualified bids and make recommendations for each trade as to award through the use of add/deduct sheets.
• Using Excel spreadsheets compile “Best” bids for each trade to establish a total project cost organized in CSI divisions.
• Compile all bids and organize a project bid book per CSI division.
• Company self performs steel stud framing and drywall as well as paint and ACT grid systems.  Employee will be required to do estimates for these trades as part of the job description.
• Interaction with Construction Operations Team will be required on an “As Needed” basis both in the office and in the field.
• At the close of a project estimated by employee, employee will meet with Company Controller and PM to review the job cost reports and determine if adjust ents will be needed to be made in future proposals.
• Estimator will be expected to handle multiple projects at one time, varying size and value.
• Establish and/or maintain budgeting database for TI’s and ground up construction.  This will facilitate the employees’ ability to generate budget proposals on all TI’s and ground up projects.


Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in estimating with a commercial General Contractor.
• Ability to run On Screen Take-off (OST) software.
• Experience with ProCore Software.
• Knowledge of local supplier and subcontractor base.
• Excellent ability to read and understand contract documents. (Architectural, Civil, Structural and MPE’s)
• Deep understanding for the complete construction estimating cycle from conceptual budgets to hard bid estimates.
