Lead Designer

Our client, a women's wholesale manufacturing company, is seeking a Lead Designer to lead their new Women's Career wear + Tops & Dresses Division! This individual will spearhead the design process for the new line, translating market trends, licensee insights, and brand vision into compelling designs that resonate with the target audience.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of women's careerwear collections, including tops and dresses, ensuring alignment with brand identity and market trends.
  • Conduct thorough market research and trend analysis to stay ahead of industry developments and incorporate innovative ideas into designs.
  • Develop mood boards, sketches, and prototypes that capture the essence of the brand while meeting the needs of modern professional women.
  • Plan and execute seasonal collections, including color stories, fabric selection, and design details that enhance the brand's competitive edge within margins.
  • Work closely with the production, factory and licensed partners to ensure designs are executed with precision and quality.
  • Participate in design presentations and buyer meetings to showcase new collections and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Guide and mentor junior designers, providing constructive feedback and fostering a collaborative and creative design environment.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in women's fashion design, with a strong portfolio showcasing careerwear, tops, and dresses.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field preferred
  • Proficient in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and CAD programs. Strong knowledge of pattern making, garment construction, and fabric properties. PLM a plus.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize and execute original designs that align with current trends and brand aesthetics.
  • Demonstrated experience leading design projects and managing a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of market trends, customer preferences in the off-price market, and competitive landscape.
