Assistant Designer

Our client is a prominent fashion company specializing in the design, distribution, and licensing of a diverse array of high-quality men's and women's apparel, accessories, and fragrances. Their extensive collection includes dress and casual wear, activewear, swimwear, and more. They are seeking an Assistant Designer (Women's or Men's) to join their New York Design team, where the successful candidate will support the product design process from inception to completion. This role entails preparing technical packages and seasonal presentation boards, managing design administration, and ensuring a seamless workflow throughout the design process.


Duties and Responsibilities:‍

• Create CADs and sketches for various styles. Assist in developing basic product specifications.
• Revise sketches and design packages as needed.
• Conduct research on local market trends.
• Maintain organized design folders for reference.
• Design and source trims, keeping trim sheets updated.
• Create inspiration boards and mini boards for sales presentations.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:‍

• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to learn and utilize design software (e.g., Illustrator and Photoshop).
• Proficient in flat sketching using Adobe Illustrator.
• Experience in design or product development in the Women's or Men's Contemporary Market.
• Basic understanding of product and fabric types.
• Knowledge of garment construction and design principles.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Minimum Requirements:‍

• A college degree in Fashion Design or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of design experience, which may include internships or summer jobs.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.

Compensation: $25/hr-$30/hr + competitive benefits & company perks
