Designer - Women's Contemporary

Our client, an established manufacturing company, is looking for a Designer - Women's Contemporary to join their team in NYC!


Responsibilities:‍

• Design and develop seasonal collections from concept to sales sample, adjusting designs as needed for production.
• Work closely within a team to manage multiple calendars and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Research and select color, yarn, and fabric trends that align with budget and design requirements.
• Develop prints and patterns in collaboration with the CAD team, ensuring brand consistency.
• Communicate and collaborate with private label customers, presenting designs in meetings as needed.
• Merchandise designs and create detailed tech packs in Excel, working closely with the technical team to ensure accurate proto samples.
• Partner with sales teams to adjust designs based on customer feedback and requests.
• Coordinate with overseas factories and offices to ensure timely development of samples, yarns, and other materials, adhering to specifications.

Qualifications:

• 5-10+ years of experience designing fully fashioned sweaters, knits, and woven sportswear.
• Private label experience is a plus.
• Strong creative vision with a keen eye for print, trend, and color.
• Proactive and self-motivated, with a positive "can-do" attitude.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working collaboratively within cross-functional teams (design, sales, CAD, and technical design).
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, MS Office, and knowledge of 3D CAD is a plus.
