Director of Residences
Our client, an UHNW family is seeking a Director of Residences. This role will manage all of the CEO’s residences / household staff and assist with residence construction and other family services.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Assume responsibility for the routine management, maintenance and overall appearance of all personal residences
- Oversee and train all residence and household staff to implement high standards and ensure that scheduling, staffing and property operations are adjusted in alignment with the CEO’s needs Set clear-cut goals and performance objectives and routinely provide feedback to staff.
- Understand the CEO’s preferences and standards and ensure that they are shared, implemented and upheld across properties
- Systematize and manage the opening / closing and day-to-day operations of all personal properties
- Develop and regularly review household manuals and staff procedure checklists for each residence
- Maintain household inventory (e.g., flowers, wine, cleaning products and personal needs) including care and maintenance of extensive art collection, high end furnishings, antiques and fine clothing
- Assist with planning and executing special dinners and events. Provide on-site assistance for these events as needed.
- Manage minor private real estate construction projects and oversee all interior and exterior maintenance, projects and repairs (e.g., HVAC, security systems, professional cleaning, plumbing, electronics, appliances, AV / IT)
- Travel between properties on a regular cadence for hands-on oversight of residences
- Coordinate moves to other properties and ensure easy transitions between residences for the CEO and household staff.
- Manage vehicles including preparing / executing maintenance plans and keeping the cars ready for use
- Oversee boats and associated maintenance. Responsible for managing boat crew.
- Prepare family for travel including maintaining inventory lists of travel gear and equipment and potential purchasing of items in advance of the trip.
- Assist with packing / unpacking and coordinating the delivery of items ahead of the family’s travel (if needed)
- Handle budgeting and expense control by property and coordinate with the Internal Accounting Team as needed
- Coordinate and monitor the relationship with and the services provided by current and future service providers
- Promote a positive image of the CEO by adhering to the highest level of professional standards and ethics
- Adapt quickly in high pressure situations and act as an extension of the CEO in such situations
- Anticpate needs of the CEO, follow-through to resolution and keep the CEO adequately informed of developments
- Lead and drive other projects and initiatives as required with project management expertise
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience supporting a high-net-worth family
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a residence / property / estate manager
- Become fully knowledgeable about all processes related to the Office of the CEO for which this role will have oversight including (but not limited to) family services, property / household management, residence construction and family security
- Anticipate the CEO’s needs and execute accordingly
- Develop relationships with the CEO’s office, personal staff and service providers
