Temporary Director of Finance & Operations

Our client, a non-profit organization, is looking for a temporary Director of Finance & Operations to support their office. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting, finance and have audit experience.

This role starts asap will last for about 3-4 months.  

Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm - Hybrid

Location: Midtown

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily back-office operations, including working with the PEO, managing bookkeeping, vendor contract negotiations, and handling employee onboarding and HR functions.
• Manage and optimize financial processes, such as bill payments, grant tracking, budgeting, reporting, tax filings, and audits.
• Ensure effective management of investment funds, including administration, audit, and compliance.
• Develop and implement new systems, processes, and policies.
• Identify, negotiate, and manage vendor contracts for services such as legal, IT, tax forms, and impact monitoring

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of work experience in relevant fields, preferably with 501(c)3 nonprofits and investment fund
• CPA and Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Slack and QuickBooks Online
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Strong communication skills, proactive, strong sense of urgency
• Detail oriented, with advanced organizational and time management skills
