Chief of Domestic Staff/House Manager
We currently seek to hire a Chief of Domestic Staff/House Manager to work directly with the CEO and his wife to plan and orchestrate the overall management of their properties, deeply rooted relationships, staff and service. This individual will supervise and guide the household staff based on the standards and desires of the principals, ultimately being responsible and fully accountable for the management of the entire household. The Chief of Domestic Staff/House Manager will report directly to the principals and must be totally “in sync” with both principals and their respective priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create an agenda and conduct regular meetings with the principals to review long- and short-term household priorities and develop an actionable execution plan utilizing staff resources.
- Work closely with the principals, personal assistant, and domestic staff while coordinating with office staff to ensure seamless planning and execution of the estate’s schedule.
- Supervise the planning, coordination, and organization of personal events for the family, with a strong focus on formal entertaining.
- Develop and maintain an annual “big-picture” household calendar, including seasonal activities, recurring events, and overall estate needs.
- Oversee daily household operations to ensure that immediate priorities and long-term goals are met.
- Hire, train, and manage household staff, approve weekly timesheets, and ensure compliance with state and federal employment regulations.
- Oversee contracted security professionals across all properties, ensuring safety and compliance with protocols.
- Maintain detailed records of all employees, including hiring, orientation, training, performance reviews, and benefits management.
- Develop and implement household systems, standards, and protocols, maintaining an employee conduct handbook, policy guidelines, and a household reference manual for each property.
- Provide leadership and direction to staff, fostering a collaborative and professional team environment by holding regular staff meetings to review weekly goals and open items.
- Manage medical concierge services for the principals and their family members.
- Procure equipment, supplies, and services as needed to maintain the household.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with household vendors and contractors.
- Supervise the maintenance and preparation of the family’s properties, ensuring that all seasonal transitions (e.g., Hamptons home prep, wardrobe management, etc.) are handled efficiently.
- Track and catalog valuable asset inventories, including art, jewelry, memorabilia, and decorative items, liaising with insurance professionals as needed.
- Handle ad hoc personal projects, special requests, and related duties as assigned by the principals.
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing luxury estates, private households, or high-profile properties.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong knowledge of household management, including staffing, event planning, and vendor negotiations.
- Ability to manage budgets and oversee the financial operations of a household.
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, and adaptability.
Compensation:
Competitive salary in the range of $135,000 - $175,000, commensurate with experience, plus an exceptional benefits package.
