Job recruiter reveals the biggest RED FLAGS that instantly turn employers off during an interview

"Interviews are auditions, and you always want to put your best foot forward," says Emily Levine, executive vice president at Career Group Companies. With over a decade of experience in recruiting, Levine has seen countless candidates make avoidable mistakes that cost them the job.
One of the biggest red flags? Focusing too much on what comes next. "Being overeager to get promoted instead of focusing on the job you applied for sounds the alarm in the interviewer's mind," she explains. Employers want to see commitment to the role at hand, not someone already planning their exit.
Another major misstep is failing to research the company. "Interviewers can always tell when someone is winging it," Levine says. "Even if they’re provided with the link of who they’re meeting with, some people show up completely blind, which is just so insulting."
Virtual interviews come with their own set of pitfalls. Levine warns against seeming too casual, recalling candidates who have interviewed while driving, lying in bed, or even wearing a bathrobe. "The bottom line is that people are just way too comfortable," she says. With hiring managers being more selective than ever, first impressions matter more than people realize.
