The biggest job interview mistakes Gen Zers make – according to a recruiter

"That is a candidate that I have very little hope for," says Emily Levine, executive vice president at Career Group Companies, after recounting an incident where a candidate took a job interview from bed, claiming laziness when asked about the setting.
Levine tells CNBC several other unprofessional moments she’s witnessed, including candidates appearing to be half-dressed during video interviews. "I think that’s bad judgment,” she says, recalling one candidate who wore a bathrobe and another who showed up “completely naked on the bottom” during a Zoom call.
She advises, "If you’re taking an interview from home, do it at a desk or kitchen table, or any area with a professional background." And for attire, Levine emphasizes, "Just, like, get dressed"—whether that means wearing a suit for a banking job or something more creative for a fashion role.
Levine’s stories highlight the importance of professionalism, enthusiasm, and good judgment during interviews, especially for younger candidates.
