Designer - Juniors Jackets

Our client, an apparel manufacturing brand, is seeking a Designer - Juniors Jackets, to join their team in New York!

$70,000-$100,000 commensurate of experience

Full time on site

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop juniors fashion jackets from concept to final prototype, ensuring trend-right, commercial styles
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, silhouettes, and fabrics within the juniors market.
  • Create detailed technical sketches and specs using Adobe Illustrator to clearly communicate designs to cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with fabric and trim teams to source materials that align with brand aesthetics and quality standards.
  • Work closely with technical design and production teams to ensure proper fit, construction, and execution of designs.
  • Participate in fit sessions, providing design adjustments and revisions as needed.
  • Assist in line planning and seasonal presentations, working with merchandising teams to build cohesive collections.
  • Stay up to date on competitor analysis, consumer preferences, and market trends to drive fresh and innovative designs.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in fashion design, specifically in juniors jackets (not heavy outerwear).
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for sketching and tech packs.
  • Deep understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and trims relevant to juniors fashion jackets.
  • Proven ability to interpret trend research into commercially viable designs for the juniors market.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with merchandising, technical design, and production teams.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail, fit, and trend-driven aesthetics.
