Sr. Designer – Baby Apparel
Our client, an expanding apparel brand, is seeking a Sr. Designer – Baby Apparel to join their team in NYC.
Responsibilities:
- Create original and trend-focused designs for children's apparel, aligned with brand identity and customer needs
- Conduct market and trend research to identify emerging styles, colors, and fabric innovations
- Develop detailed technical sketches, CADs, and presentation boards for internal reviews and buyer meetings
- Collaborate with merchandising, production, and sourcing teams to ensure design feasibility and cost efficiency
- Work closely with licensors and brand partners to adhere to style guidelines for character-driven collections
- Oversee fittings and provide design direction for garment construction, trims, and embellishments
- Ensure all designs meet industry regulations and safety standards for children's clothing
- Maintain an organized workflow, meeting strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in children's apparel design
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Experience in trend research, forecasting, and color development
- Solid understanding of fabrications, garment construction, and production processes
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work cross-functionally
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Keen eye for detail, fit, and quality standards
- Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance for children's wear
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field
- Ability to work full-time in office
