Paralegal

An innovative and distinguished full-service law firm spanning a variety of industries and practice areas is hiring for a paralegal to join their Wills, Trusts & Estates team. This paralegal will assist attorneys on administration matters for both taxable and non-taxable estates.

Preferred locations: Albany, Rochester, or Financial District NYC
Can be fully on-site or hybrid 4:1 after training period

Compensation (OT eligible):
Albany: $33.34 - $40/hour + discretionary bonus (37.5 hours/week)
Rochester: $32.26 - $38.71/hour + discretionary bonus (38.75 hours/week)
New York City: $43.96 - $52.20/hour + discretionary bonus (35 hours/week)

*Annual billable requirement of 1400 hours (prorated for 1st year)

Responsibilities:
• Interact with a wide variety of clients in person, on the phone, via email and video conferencing
• Draft, edit, and review probate and administration related documents
• Assist clients with retitling assets
• Assemble and organize financial records for estate tax returns and audits
• Prepare, edit, and review estate tax returns
• Prepare fiduciary income tax returns and settlement papers for both informal and formal settlement of estates and trusts

Qualifications:
• 3+ years of estate administration experience
• Experience preparing estate and trust accountings
• Experience with NY state tax returns + fiduciary experience
• A high level of initiative, and ability to follow through on numerous ongoing projects in a busy environment
• Exceptional oral and written communication, and organizational skills
• Strong proofreading and analytical skills to ensure top quality of legal documents
• Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Outlook and Excel, and able to efficiently use technology resources
