  • Monitor and optimize cash flow management and bank accounts, ensuring financial stability.
  • Develop and maintain the annual budget, adjusting as necessary to support firm objectives.
  • Act as the primary liaison with external accountants for tax filings, PTET processes, and financial audits.

Compensation & Billing:

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Oversee and manage client trust/IOLTA accounts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Work with owners and financial institutions on line of credit renewals and financial agreements.
  • Reconcile real estate closings, applying payments from trust accounts as needed.
  • Monitor and process professional corporation renewals, registrations, and payments for firm owners.
  • Ensure compliance with multi-state financial regulations and manage related tax payments.
  • Review contract renewals for software, services, vendors, and operational expenses.

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Lead the Finance and Accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Partner with the HR & Operations team on financial matters, including 401(k) administration, health insurance renewals, and compensation planning.
  • Work closely with the Director of HR & Operations to oversee business insurance policies, including EPLI, malpractice, liability, cybersecurity, and worker’s compensation.
  • Lead weekly management committee meetings and monthly partner meetings to review financial health and strategy.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and vendors on firm-wide technology projects and improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CPA, or CLM certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in law firm financial management, with a proven track record of leadership.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with Coyote Analytics preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks.
  • Experience managing multi-state financial matters and PTET compliance is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
